Behind the Ship is a design talkshow hosted by Designer Lotachi Anidi. The first episode of the show was released on Youtube - Oct 12th, 2024 and was with Kachi Mbaike, a Product Design Leader at Paystack. Lota has since gone on to interview an array of designers from Cowrywise, Spotify to design founders like Ayomide of Posthearts. We're a small, independent show with a growing audience of curious designers, builders, and dreamers across the world.

About us

We bring you closer to the makers whose names you don’t know yet—but whose work you already love.

Why

Too often, we celebrate what was launched but not who made it, or how. 90% of product launches make headlines—but fewer than 0.1% spotlight the makers behind them. Makers whose work quietly shapes our daily lives have grown accustomed to anonymity. Mainstream media prefers valuations and funding rounds, leaving maker stories unheard, makers unrecognized, and audiences unaware of the depth and inspiration behind the experiences they use every day.

Maybe we're waiting for someone else to tell these stories. Maybe we feel there’s nothing to tell or perhaps we've been so focused on making that we've forgotten the importance of documenting our own journeys. But when craft stays invisible, stories of what failed, what worked, and what never shipped fade away. New makers lose insights that could save months of false starts, makers lose meaningful opportunities for connection, and our field loses its collective memory.

That changes today.

Behind the Ship is building a home for makers—documenting their journeys, processes, and archives, so today's builders learn faster, makers finally gain recognition, and tomorrow’s history doesn't erase them.

Behind the Ship is where makers finally step out from anonymity, bringing you closer to the makers whose work you already love.
