Behind the Ship is for Makers. Sharing real stories about the things you made.
Behind the Ship is a 60 minute talk show between Lota (the host) and African Creators, Makers & Designers, where they share stories on their journeys – uncovering insights around how they crafted and shipped something big, something small, something great. Independently or within teams.
The mission is to bring education, inspiration, and innovation to makers of today and and the makers to come tomorrow—one lesson, one story at a time.
I live in a poorly designed society where successful makers and designers unintentionally work in silos, making it difficult for the next generation to learn from their journeys. Our stories—of what failed, what worked, and what never shipped—too often go untold. We’re so busy making that we forget how important it is to share. This realization inspired me to create Behind the Ship, my way of capturing and sharing these untold stories. I’ve interviewed seven makers, published five stories, and grown a community of 300 people since June. Through these stories, I aim to ignite inspiration and impart wisdom to the next generation of creators.
